Passive and active VOODOO HI-FI speakers: what's the difference?

PEOPEO has launched its new range ofhigh-fidelity loudspeakers: the VOODOO HI-FI active and passive versions.

Passive and active loudspeakers share acoustic characteristics, but they also have their own specific features.

The passive loudspeakers are used for fixed installation. The pair of VOODOO HI-FI Passive speakers lets you create a stereo sound system. You can use them, for example, as part of a home-cinema installation, or add a vinyl turntable to your equipment.

By definition, VOODOO passive Hi-Fi speakers do not have their ownamplifier module. To be functional, they must be coupled to an external amplifier. Be careful, however, not to use just any amplifier. It must be compatible with the characteristics of the VOODOO passive Hi-Fi speakers. PEOPEO recommends using a 2x 30 to 120 W RMS amplifier at 4 ohms. During installation, your passive Hi-Fi speakers should be connected to the terminals of this amplifier.

The active speaker is equipped with its own amplifier. As a result, it is directly functional, requiring only a mains supply.

The main advantage of an active Hi-Fi speaker is the integration of all its functions. Thanks to the presence of a control interface, all you have to do is connect your mobile device via Bluetooth or mini-jack cable, and adjust the volume to suit your needs.

The VOODOO HI-FI active speaker can also be connected via the True Wireless Stereo to another VOODOO HI-FI active speaker. So you can create your own wireless stereo sound system!
