L'VOODOO is arousing a great deal of curiosity, and many of you have already asked us a few questions about the Bluetooth speaker's design. For this article, I asked Geoffrey, the Designer at PEOPEO so he could tell us all about it!
What was your primary desire in creating this Bluetooth speaker?
I wanted to offer something different from what's currently on the market.
Powerful speakers are always black cubes, and Bluetooth speakers all look the same, which makes the object rather impersonal. I wanted to break out of this pattern and come up with a product that tells a story, with an original, assertive design that arouses curiosity and creativity in everyone.
TheVOODOO mobile loudspeaker had to reflect the values we stand for - sharing, conviviality and open-mindedness - as well as the passions that drive us! And since PEOPEO creates loudspeakers and therefore a sound environment, it had to be something that everyone could make their own, a companion for evenings out and for life.
What were your inspirations in designing theVOODOO bluetooth speaker?
As a creator of ambiance, it was essential that theVOODOO loudspeaker didn't fade into the background!
In keeping with my aim of appropriating and transcribing our values, I drew a great deal of inspiration from tribal culture and its values. Tribes used to gather around a sacred object to celebrate various events. Here theVOODOO is the totem of modern times.
How did you come up with this speaker design?
Keeping in mind the different styles mentioned above, the idea of the face came quite naturally to me. And since we wanted to make the VOODOO speaker an indispensable companion for every moment of life, it seemed the perfect embodiment for theVOODOO nomad speaker.
In addition to the face, I chose colors that refer to natural materials and thus to the outdoor environment: brown and beige.
TheVOODOO speaker can also be customized to suit individual tastes. In addition to the choice of color, you can opt for different ring and grille patterns.
Finally, we had to place three elements within thehigh-fidelity speaker: the port, the tweeter and the loudspeaker. Their arrangement coordinated perfectly with the imagined face shape.
Now let's get technical: how was thehigh-power Bluetooth speaker designed?
TheVOODOO stand-alone loudspeaker has been designed to be mobile anywhere, which means it's easy to handle, lightweight and comfortable to carry. All this while preserving its properties and acoustic quality. The shape of the speaker, for example, is aesthetically pleasing, but also makes the product more solid and comfortable when carried on the back.
