Andrea installs the Voodoo in Romania

Oct 19, 2021

READING TIME: 3 MIN

A few months ago, we received a phone call:
"Hello PEOPEO team! It's Nina and Jérémy, we need sound for a travel project and truck climb in Eastern Europe: the Andrea Base Camp! Are you hot to follow us?"
" - Yes, we're hot, the project sounds so cool, we'll follow you!!!"

That's how Nina Caprez, world-class climber, and Jérémy Bernard, renowned extreme sports photographer, came up with the idea of joining the Andrea Base Camp project and accompanying them on their trip with a VOODOO portable loudspeaker.

After a few months, Andrea's preparation and outfitting were ready - and yes, that's the truck's name! In collaboration with EP Climbing and Petzl, they built a custom-made, removable climbing wall. So Andrea, Nina and Jérémy were ready to set off into the unknown with a VOODOO on board, ready to send good vibrations all the way!

Their mission on this road trip is to explore, meet and share their passion for climbing with everyone in the remotest parts of Eastern Europe. That's why Andrea is so solid, a Mercedez Benz Unimog U2150 made for driving on the most chaotic roads and paths, and also for transporting the climbing wall!

First stop: Dalas, Romania

After a month's travel, the Andrea team decided to set up camp in Dalas, one of the poorest districts of Vulcan, a Romanian town located in a former mining valley where everything came to a standstill after the fall of communism.

They decided to set up shop there after meeting Felipe and Janelle, creators of Fara Limite: a free climbing gym open to all, designed for local young people. Their idea is to link climbing to education and social ties, so that children can practice an activity, build themselves up and enrich their lives with new skills.

During the 10 days spent at the Dalas community, Nina and Jérémy were able to set up the climbing wall, climb with the youngsters, share their passion for photography and, above all, experience many enriching moments of exchange. This was followed by the first bouldering contest in Andrea's history! And the first VOODOO event in Romania!
