GREEN VIBE® is a cornerstone of the Vibration Technology, based on the use of innovative material and specific shapes to give the best acoustic performance to our speakers, while keeping things sustainable.

A TECHNICAL MATERIAL

The choice of material had to meet different technical and ethical constraints, and we decided to focus on flax fiber, a sustainable material which has already proven itself in many fields, from furniture design to skis, speakers to boat hulls.

For composite and technical use, the mechanical properties of flax fiber have many similarities to carbon or glass fibers, and often outperform them:

• Low density (1.5 vs 2.54 for fiberglass)
• Higher specific stiffness than fiberglass
• Greater vibration absorption than carbon and glass fibers
• superior Acoustic isolation to carbon and glass fibers
• Lower environmental footprint than fiberglass.

Long story short: these properties give us the edge both sonically, and ecologically.

– Resistant to torsion
– Hard to deform

The shell of the VOODOO BOOMBOX is extremely strong and light.
It’s been built to last, and designed for easy transportation.

A UNIQUE SHAPE

The shape of the speaker also contributes directly to the performance of the product, both in terms of sound reproduction and user experience.
The tonal quality of a speaker is determined by several factors, including its shape.
The Green Vibe® has unique proportions which vary in size, face-position, edge shape, and thickness to make it optimized for sound.

The size: the volume of the speaker is calculated very precisely, with a bass-reflex acoustic system optimized for natural bass performance.

The faces: the creation and the addition of multiple facets and edges make it possible to stiffen the entire box, meaning less energy is lost, increasing performance.

The thickness: in the shape of the shell, the thickness of the walls play a very important role for the rigidity of the box. Each face is designed to minimize the weight without sacrificing the sound.

It is this balance of weight and efficiency that gives our loudspeakers the best sound quality.

AN ETHICAL APPROACH

Eco-responsibility is one of the key elements of PEOPEO‘s development.
We carefully source components and construct locally to ensure sustainability, and are always improving as we go.

We are based in Grenoble, a city in the French Alps, and it was important for PEOPEO to offer a product that is 100% made in France.

Beyond its mechanical properties, flax fiber is also fantastic from an ecological point of view. Flax fiber is a lightly processed natural fiber. It is biodegradable, and grows rapidly without being continuously sprayed with pesticides or fertilizers, and requires little water.

Originating from Saint-Pierre-le-Viger in Normandy, the flax fiber used by PEOPEO and produced by the Cooperative Terre de Lin, and proud to be “Made In France”. The material is certified by European Flax®, a premium quality label for premium quality flaxseed and Masters of Linen, which is a group of companies that have chosen 100% European traceability.

This flax fiber is then transformed into a composite by Elca Composite, based near Vichy.
Specialised in composite materials solutions, this company designs various products for all sectors of activity (Automotive, Leisure and Sport, Industry, Sailing, etc.).

BLUE VIBE®‘s mission is to optimize the performance of the speaker in order to have maximum autonomy.

The technical development was focussed on creating a simple and user-friendly experience.

Our beta tests have let us achieve optimum results, providing ease of use by putting the most essential controls right at your fingertips.

The motherboards used in the system represent an advanced development between INRIA, the national research institute dedicated to digital sciences, which promotes scientific excellence, and with Digigram, another French company, and one of the world leaders in the field of audio.

The project brought together the expertise of INRIA and DIGIGRAM, bringing you:
● the APTX Bluetooth module
● the audio source switch (line / Bluetooth)
● the μController that manages the HMI and the volume control
● dependable power supplies

LATEST GENERATION COMPONENTS

Focus has been made on the amplifier and the development of a specific battery.
The Class T amplifier is a latest-generation component that converts over 93% of its energy into sound signal.

A very sophisticated technology, Class T amplifiers have a very high efficiency that allows the use of low capacity power components.

Nowadays, there are many hi-fi amplifier or home-cinema systems that use Class T amplifiers, and they sound very pleasant, especially with wireless speakers. This type of amplifier is present in many subwoofers and gives excellent results.

The amplifier powers the 8″ Eminence speaker, and a silk dome tweeter with 200 watts of RMS power. The speaker is very compact, and gives great performance even at low intensity.

The VOODOO has a built-in electronically controlled anti-saturation system, that offers reliability of sound quality even at high power.

The Li-Ion battery powering the speaker has been developed for audio, and chosen especially to power our speakers.

The LG cells guarantee 700 cycles at 90% capacity and the Battery Monitoring System which manages the charging / discharging of cells, protects the battery from too much discharge or accidental surges.
This protection optimizes the life of the cells and therefore of the battery.

LATEST 4.0 APTX BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY

Thanks to the APTX codec, there is no loss of audio frequencies, which guarantees better sound quality. It’s a lossless codec, so you will hear the music exactly the way it was intended to be heard.

Bluetooth 4.0 aptX transmission offers a quality similar to CD audio. With a compression ratio of 4: 1 on average, the music is reproduce with very high quality, without clogging up your device with huge audio files. The FLAC, Apple Lossless or PCM files transmitted via this protocol are also played back with perfect fidelity.
MP3 or AAC files whose bit rate is less than 350 Kbits / sec are transmitted without transcoding or deterioration. The aptX codec is compatible with conventional Bluetooth systems.

Other benefits of APTX:
– In simple connection, its latency is low enough to be inaudible.
– It allows the True Wireless Stereo multi-speaker connection which consists of connecting two speakers together wirelessly to create a stand-alone stereo system.

More and more manufacturers understand the value of quality Bluetooth streaming, thanks to the success and popularity of those devices, but also of smartphones and tablets.

WORK ON ACOUSTICS

On the VOODOO BOOMBOX we also collaborated with an electro-acoustic engineer.
Our aim was to improve the existing sound reproduction even when used in a “non-standard” listening environment: outside, and on the ground.

Our design will actually use the ground itself to accentuate the natural bass response of the VOODOO BOOMBOX.

Together, PEOPEO and Marc Levasseur, worked on the development of a passive filter.
A passive filter is an electronic system that modifies the frequency response of an audio signal.

The signal that is sent by the amplifier passes through this filter and is corrected so that only a certain frequency band reaches the audio elements according to their capabilities, but also if necessary to correct certain acoustic artifacts.

For Marc Levasseur, music is a vector of emotions.
A speaker must be able to transmit them and carry his listener to give them a unique sonic experience. The VOODOO loudspeakers match this function perfectly, without altering the color of the original sound and integrating perfectly into its ecosystem:

The end result is a speaker that is both powerful, but also perfectly balanced.
